Using Transparent Authentication Policies

Article #: Product: Version:
KB-108 Guardian All

Summary:

This article provides guidance for when a transparent authentication policy (Web proxy > Authentication > Policy wizard)would be suitable.

Solution:

You configure transparent connections from users’ computers Guardian by configuring computers’ network connections to use Guardian as the default gateway.

In order for a transparent policy to work, the following must be in place:

  • DNS must be set up correctly on your network so that user computers can resolve the short form of Guardian’s hostname, for example: resolve mysystem for the hostname mysystem.example.co.
  • User computers and Guardian must be within the same DNS domain.
  • Internet Explorer must be configured to authenticate automatically with intranet sites.
